Real beat Deportivo Alaves 3-0 on Sunday in La Liga to remain in first place, as Karim Benzema’s first-half goal was enough to keep Los Blancos ahead of rival Barcelona.
Entering with a two-point cushion over Barca in the standings, Real extended its lead to five points temporarily with Barca playing later on Sunday.
This Benzema goal, which was a fine, attentive strike, came in the 31st minute and proved to be the winning goal.
